4 years and 776 posts..

missed this blog's fourth anniversary a couple of weeks ago.. much has changed, and yet not much has changed. good times still abound, while growing up has happened alongside. i still don't believe i wake up and go to work six days a week, considering the rockstar lifestyle we led back in college. oh well, life goes on. this blog goes on too.

push my buttons?

Blog buttons are a fascinating thing to play with, especially if you have lots of time and a handy website for a button maker. If you scroll down to my sidebar links, you'll see some I made. However, these nifty little buttons can be made to say anything you want. Yes, anything. Look at these -

(These buttons originally made by
Jeremy Zawodny)

I can't claim ownership of these buttons, however awesome they are! Here are a couple of links for making buttons - some of them allow you to make buttons with graphics while the others are plain-text versions: McKnight, Zappa, Kalsey.. enjoy!

Blog Action Day

damn, i missed this.. blog action day was on October 15th. i like their slogan -
Blog Action Day!- "What would happen if every blog published posts discussing the same issue, on the same day?

One issue. One day. Thousands of voices. The issue is the environment. The date is October 15."

check out their blog if you want to know what it was all about.. the issue at hand was the environment - y'all already know how i feel about this topic, and what each one of us can do to make a contribution

oh yeah, i'm really glad Gore & the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel won the Nobel Peace Prize. it's recognition for their efforts, not at trying to tell anyone what to do, but just trying to get us all to pay a little more attention to the environment and what we are doing to it.. it's like a jug of water sitting on the table, and we're looking at it, but no one's reaching forward and picking it up... get up, do something dammit!

triple threat

yes, this blog is three years old today. and no, i won't give you a long spiel about how good it's been and how faithful all ye readers are for still dropping by even though i write more rarely than a monk swears

but i will let you know that while lots of old time bloggers are falling by the wayside and others are taking sabbaticals.. i'll still be here, plodding along with a post or so whenever it tickles my fancy or guilt wracks my mind, but more so when i have something to write about.. so hang around, i ain't done yet.

just to celebrate the third birthday.. a picture of three tits.

three tits

ok ok, i kid.. three perfect breasts coming up..

three breasts

fine, those were only chicken breasts.. so here's third time lucky!

three boobies

you see, i always come through! now raise your glasses and here's a toast to good times..

two down, many to go..

this weekend marks the two year bloggiversary of The Outlaw Torn.. and what a period it's been. y'all have seen me here at the heights of happiness, and the depths of desperation.. agony and ecstasy have gone hand in hand, as they do in life too. it's been a wonderful journey, and it's not about to stop here either.. thank you all for being here with me throughout, thank you for your support and thank you blog for introducing me to so many wonderful people! :-)

growing growing grown!

i missed a blog milestone while i was away last week, so please bear with me! on this occasion of the post no. 601, am gonna engage in some shameless self-appraisal.. after all, humility killed the cat, and early to bed early to rise made us all unhealthy, silly and oversize..

so yeah, back to the point.. i've been at this blogging thing for close to two years now, and six hundred posts on this blog into it, i feel no reason to stop.. i still enjoy writing, penning down thoughts on a broad range of subjects, and memories from times and places far receded into depths of the mind. and i guess even if the day comes when i have no one to read this, it will still provide me a record of some very eventful days in my life.

ever since i moved to a private site, www.stheoutlawtorn.com, i've been slowly developing a number of subsidiary sites.. have only changed the addresses on some, and templates on others, but will over time have them all under this site's banner. depending on your tastes beyond the eclectic fare i dish out here on this blog, find something to amuse yourself with in these..

  • The Recipe Blog - this needs the most work, because without a camera i cannot post a lot of recipes that i have ready to upload. will get to it as promptly as i can.

  • The Blue Blog - an outlet for a lot of pent-up feelings i have, a very different side to my personality.

  • The Idea Blog - often a place for me to jot down my ideas, dreams and aspirations, but mostly forwards and quizzes i liked.

  • The Music Blog - this is a site with weekly reviews of music albums that are making waves in the world of rock.

thank you all for dropping by, and hope to keep seeing you here!

worldwide?

the ClustrMap for the hits on this blog show a pretty cool distribution all over the world.

the one thing you will notice though is that there is a distinct emptiness over vast tracts, especially in certain areas. i know that i can't claim a worldwide readership, but it's no coincidence that some of the places with no dots are also places with the least internet usage statistics too. then again, when you don't have piped drinking water, regular meals, a permanent job, basic infrastructure, stable governments.. checking email and browsing the net is the least of your priorities. somehow Africa always misses the boat when the rest of the world is moving forward, and we spend generations playing catch-up.. never really catching up.
